CFCC's 2017 Food Summit has ended

Join Community Food Centres Canada in Toronto for the 2017 Food Summit! This event gathers staff from Community Food Centres and Good Food Organizations to share ideas, make meaningful connections, and get energized for our collective work building a healthy and fair food system. Balancing act: How two chefs are serving up healthy meals while meeting people where they're at
When it comes to a good meal, the kitchen is always ground zero. And in the context of community food programs, it's no different. Here, the chef or cook has the challenging job of planning healthy meals that please the palates of diverse eaters — those who like spice and those who loathe it; those who like their sugar and those who need to actively regulate it; those whose bodies are still growing and those who are watching their weight. In this session, two seasoned community chefs will share how, over many meals served, they've struck a delicate balance on this tricky terrain and how they're now supporting other chefs in their community to follow suit.
